$30 nonmembers, $25 members, plus $10 for Tea Luncheon on the porch after class

Costumer Kay Demlow of Lavender’s Green Historic Clothing will offer a workshop on Victorian ladies’ clothing. The first section, “Foundations,” will talk about underpinnings: corsets, petticoats, and other ladies’ undergarments. The second, “Dresses for Everyday,” will cover day and work dresses of the 1880s and 90s. We’ll finish up with “Special Occasions,” looking at fancy dress, outerwear, and accessories including hats and bonnets. Each section will be illustrated with photos, replica garments, and actual period clothing!

Kay will be joined by members of the Eugene Button Club, who will display their collections of antique buttons and fasteners. And, of course, we’ll have examples of the House’s own historic clothing collections on display throughout the building. If you’re enthusiastic about Victorian clothing, this is a workshop you won’t want to miss.

This special event will be followed by an optional luncheon on the porch, featuring sandwiches, iced tea and lemonade, and dessert.
