The Obama Campaign has moved into the old Theo's coffee space, between Beyond War and New Zone, on West Broadway.

did anyone read the ew's off-track feature? did anyone find it aggravating that when we're hosting a world class event in eugene the weekly chose to handle it this way? while all the things featured are true to one extent or another - can't we just enjoy our 2 weeks in the spotlight - maybe highlight the positive? if the weekly wants to highlight "alternative" eugene - fine, but why so snide and negative? there's plenty to be proud of in eugene both mainstream and alternative - i wish our media would reflect that a little more often. it's almost as if the weekly wants us to fail.

Dear Friends and Neighbors of West Broadway:

RE: Broadway Block Party brought to you by:
Davis’, Jameson, Horsehead, Lucky’s and Track Town Brewery

The Broadway Block Party (BBP) is an event to help bring life back to the downtown area of Eugene. Much like the Eugene celebration, there will be a high level of security around the clock during the times of the event. I have actually doubled the recommended number of security persons to be sure that this event stays in tight control.

I have consulted all local municipalities to ensure their support and to meet all guidelines required for holding an event of this type.

During The BBP, Broadway Street (between Willamette and Charnelton), and Olive Street (between 8th and 10th ), will be closed to motor traffic starting at 8am Friday, June 13th, and reopening on Sunday, June 15th by 2pm.

Three bands will be playing on Friday June 13th starting at 4pm until 10:00. To accommodate a possible encore, we are expecting to cut the sound by 10:30 pm. On Saturday June 14th gates will be open free to the public from 12:00 until 3:00, with ticketed gates starting at 4pm. There will be 5 bands playing and the event will be finished at 10 pm.

If at any time you have questions or concerns, feel free to call the staff at Davis’ Restaurant at 485-1124, or my personal cell phone at 968-8662. Please keep in mind that I will be working this event and may not answer all calls immediately, but I will do my very best to respond as quickly as possible. Thank you for your support in bringing life back to downtown Eugene!

Sincerely,

Thomas Kamis
