The Downtown Neighborhood Association

Thought I'd better start this thread.

We may want to rethink the first Monday/third Thursday protocol since for some months (like this one) there are only 10 days between them. But I don't think we should change the third Thursday GM date (ever) since that's part of how we got into trouble for the September meeting.

Here's what the September SC minutes say about the agenda for the Sept meeting we didn't have.

Agenda for General Meeting
Have the event in Kesey Plaza and make it a potluck.
• Open the meeting, review and approve the minutes - 5 minutes.
• Public comment - 20 minutes. No person can talk more than 5 minutes.
• Topic 1: Police dept presentation on community policing
• Topic 2: Plan events for downtown (Implement holiday programming by forming subcommittees like for school carolers, DNA participation in the Eugene Celebration)
Presentation by Tim Patrick who coordinates downtown activities
• Wrap up and adjourn - 5 minutes

Are we just going to use this as the October agenda?
Hi Liz,

First off, I'm not going to make the SC meeting. I'm going to be out of town. However, I will get online right away Monday night and give my input.

Thanks for getting this rolling. This agenda looks good except I'm not sure we can swing the Kesey Plaza idea (perhaps revisit this in the Spring?). I would also like to propose we discuss at SC some procedural things like the process of getting the invites out etc. (the thing that tripped us up last time).

Liz, is it beginning to feel a little lonely on this site? Where'd everybody else go? :-)

Will
The daylength calculator on my PDA says that sunset on Oct 16 will be at 6:21, and there's that cold and wet thing going on here this time of year, so I agree, Kesey Plaza probably won't work. Which means that we need to find another venue. I really think that we should get a meeting room in the Atrium, which isn't exactly cozy, but would be a lot better equipped for holding meetings.

I don't know where everybody went. I've been a little busy since school starts tomorrow, and I wanted to keep quiet for awhile in case people are sick of me.
I am a knucklehead - I will be at SC meeting b/c it's NEXT Monday not THIS Monday...
Hi All,
I'm in Seattle, but am still planning to host the SC meeting at my house on October 6. And Liz, I agree that the Atrium would be more appropriate than Kesey Plaza.
Hi guys, I'm a little slow. Just today I thought "Where are those guys" I was used to responding by e-mail. I get it. Here you all are. I think it is a bit ambitious of us to plan a GM every month.

Unless one meeting is very low key. People show. Nothing big.. Ect.
Ok, let's try this again -

How're we doing in terms of firming up agenda for Oct 16 GM?

Amy and Megan are tentatively coming. Might need to be delayed for another month.

Are we booked at the library?

Let's get this taken care of so we can get invites out!

Thanks
Hi All,
I've created a draft meeting notice which I've attached below. As you confirm the location and speakers, I'll put them in.

We need another location.

Third Thursday is evidently very popular, since the library rooms are booked up through Dec, and they only reserve three months in advance. :-(

For reference, their rooms are $25/hr +$100 deposit, food is OK as long as we clean up.
The Campbell Senior Center and the Lamb Cottage rent for a little more. I'll check them out.
I called regarding the Lamb Cottage at Skinner Butte Park and the Campbell Center. The Lamb Cottage is available for $25/hour for up to 32 people (we had 30 people in August). Future third Thursday evenings are also available.

They have a kitchen and ask for deposits of $110 for the key and $50 for cleaning. Both are refundable. I asked Diane to hold the facility until 4:00 pm tomorrow, Friday, while I confirm with the group. Please let me know what you think by 2:00 pm so I can be sure to get over there and do the paper work before 4:00.
What's the seating situation there? Do we know if they have chairs available?
